Happy Dell XPS 13 user here. I have been using it for the past 3 years without any issue. In the same timespan many of my coworkers had to replace/return macbooks (kb glitches, screen issues, battery problems etc).I was a thinkpad only person before that, but the quality went downhill.I am tempted to buy a pixelbook and use linux on it next, the specs/price/quality seem just right.
My thinkpad x1 carbon works great!
I'd heavily recommend the lenovo x1 line, I'm using the x1c5 (gen5) without issue. Love it in every regard, and it doesn't hurt that it's lighter than the macbook by a heavy margin.
XPS 13 or 15 are worth looking at
I have the latest XPS13 and they really are great machines. We also have the older XPS 15, but it feels noticeably heavier, bulkier and seems to have some stability issues. Also worth looking at the Lenovo X1. Similarly light and powerful.Edit: My only complaint with the XPS13 is the ports ... it's definitely one short (power, monitor, USB peripherals) which forces you to get the expensive dock. Not cool.
Dell XPS 13. It's light, it's got the battery life and it's competitively priced. More importantly, it's not Lenovo.
Have you considered ThinkPad X1? I got one and I'm really happy with it.
I went with the Lenovo X1 Carbon.
The XPS 15/13 is viable competition imho.
If it was a bit cheaper and had a 13" screen (or a smaller rim) I'd go for it. Right now the XPS 13 has an edge for me.
