This is a protest against the police. So of course the cops are going to get violent. What's horrifying is the extent to which people refuse to see that and just figure "well, the protesters have to have done something to deserve it".
It's closer to "police officers assaulting protesting civilians who refused to stop protesting"
Shittier than perpetuating violence on demonstrators?
As an outsider watching from across the Atlantic, I am astonished at what is being posted in these comments. There are hundreds of videos on social media of wanton police violence towards peaceful protestors. Of course there are non-peaceful protestors (and I do not defend them) but they are responded to in incidents of heavy handed violent escalation. Bellingcat have collected more than 100 reports of protected media representatives being beaten, blinded and brutalized by police action. This is
The police are phsyically attacking the people, it's quite different. Yes, this app helps protestors, but it also helps the public avoid being treated extremely violently by the police.

They also often incite that violent fringe to action, and condone or overlook their actions. Silence is violence, right? And remaining silent on those using violence to achieve political goals - the very definition of terrorism - isn
Will this work for police violence?
Not sure how to get from being gassed by the police to looting shops, though.I haven't seen that footage, but of course I have heard of cases of violence against protesters. Doesn't really prove a deliberate approach to me. Maybe some police officers are also just human and get angry when people hurl stones at them and spit at them. If it's an excuse for the protesters, why not for the police. Sure, you'd hope they'd be trained in restraint, but at the end of the day,
