Probably not since that's paying for the EV subsidies.

Another incentive to go buy an EV.

Giving subsidies for buying EVs and then taxing them later doesn't sound that bad actually, it's like a loan. Right now the high sticker price of EVs is a bigger problem than the maintenance cost.

It's not so much that electrics are subsidized. More that fossil-fuel vehicles are heavily taxed.

The tax savings and subsidies are a major driving force behind people getting EVs. They're inherently more expensive if those tax advantages were to be removed.Currently it's carrot and stick, they'll eventually have to transition to a "smaller stick and larger stick" model.

Car culture is massively subsidized in America. Why are we subsidizing (overwhelmingly wealthy) owners of EVs? Can I get a tax credit for an e-bike?

This just sums up how tax payers subsidise EVs and some meme company takes the credit

Of course people want them when they end up cheaper in the long run. Many governments are subsidizing EVs while taxing non-EVs.

Regulatory credits are a huge subsidy for EV cars.

Ahh, the poor subsidizing the rich getting electric vehicles
