Webpack vs Esbuild/Vite

let's be real. nobody is crushing anybody in development speed with webpack. Use rollup esbuild or vite

webpack hate is so unjustified now days. It's far superior and stable than these toy build tools and setups.

Are you claiming that everyone should stop using Webpack and Rollup too?

Can't do much about NPM, but webpack is legacy now, no reason to use it for new projects. You can use esbuild if you just want compiling, or vite (which uses esbuild and roll up) if you want compiling + bundling + front end assets. It Just Works™. It's very fast, minimal effort, and vastly less complicated than webpack ever was. esbuild is not simply “more efficient webpack” so that’s quite misleading.

Yes, I'm using webpack. Moving to esbuild will be non-trivial amount of work.
