I recently started using Safari over Chrome. I feel like it has better privacy than Chrome but doesn't have the performance issues that Firefox does. Even with the recent attention Firefox has gotten on Mac it still is a dumpster fire compared to Safari in terms of battery life and performance.

Why not Safari? It's fast, power-efficient, and native.

I don't know about the challenges for a web dev. But as a MacOS user I love Safari. It is very fast, it does not drain my battery and it gives me an increadibly streamlimed experience (bookmarks sync across all my Apple devices, I can continue a session that I started on my iOS device on my Mac).Chrome kills my battery. Firefox is way to slow (startup time).

I don't really understand thisSafari works fine?? It's web kit based and is better for both memory usage and battery life iiucI almost exclusively use it on my phone. I also use it on my laptop (I have chrome FF and safari but primary use safari and chrome because I prefer them)This seems to be working as intended. Apple makes a great browser that runs great on their devices and is beautifully designed. Chrome works everywhere (that is important to Google!)We have choices!

Even though Safari is behind the curve for many web tech features, I've been pretty happy using it as my main browser for the last few months. On a MacBook Pro, none of the browsers even come close to competing with Safari when it comes to battery life. I still keep Chromium and Firefox installed, and Chromium is my go-to option for web development. But I'm happy to find that Safari has sane defaults when it comes to displaying URLs.

hardly using safari.it not so fast as chrome, not have so many productive add-ons as chrome and firefox, not so flexible and customizable as firefox, not so open and powerful as firefox.

Ehh, I use Safari as my main browser (it feels more "native" than Chrome & FF, has seemingly lower CPU usage than Chrome, and is WAY better for the battery), and I rarely suffer for it. Once in a while there is a site that does something fancy that requires Chrome, but it is rare.

probably because Safari isn't chromium and is webkit? as for using Safari over other browsers on macOS, performance and low battery/power usage.

One thing I miss when using Safari instead of Chrome

Exactly. Occasionally I'll give Chrome, Firefox, among others a try, but I keep coming back to Safari. I hate the way the other browsers look, especially Chrome, and Safari is super quick while being easy on the battery.
