Platform Commission Rates

Comments revolve around inquiring about, debating, and comparing the percentage-based commissions, fees, and revenue cuts taken by platforms, services, and intermediaries from sales, profits, or transactions, such as Apple's 30% or Stripe's 2.9%. Discussions often question fairness, alternatives like flat fees, and industry standards.

I'm curious what their percentage cut is.

malloreon Aug 14, 2019 View on HN

according to the site, you keep 80% of the profit, so their cut is 20%.

taskforcegemini Nov 24, 2023 View on HN

that is not a lot considering they get a 30% cut off of every sale.

jszymborski Sep 19, 2023 View on HN

Do they not have a base fee for themselves? Or is it entirely a percentage cut?

hhh Nov 8, 2023 View on HN

what's their cut on something like that?

xoxoy Aug 6, 2020 View on HN

taking 2.9%+ of every sale is a lot though, no?

yeldarb Jul 17, 2014 View on HN

Are they taking 30% of the payment?

uberman Jul 19, 2019 View on HN

Payment up front = scam. But... if they want 10% of what you get, that sounds reasonable to me.

zackattack Mar 8, 2010 View on HN

if it really added 10% to the bottom line, why not take payment on commission?

samblr Jun 8, 2017 View on HN

There is a percentage for every transaction till one reaches subscription price (i.e max that will be paid)
