Airships Viability Debate

The cluster focuses on discussions about the potential revival and applications of airships (blimps, zeppelins, dirigibles) for cargo, passenger transport, firefighting, and other uses, weighing advantages like lower energy use and efficiency against disadvantages such as weather vulnerability, high costs, and maneuverability issues.

Why not an airship at this scale?

Seems like a perfect application for airships.

Why are Zeppelins not a more prevalent solution?

Energy usage is far less with an airship

Airships aren't going to be viable as air taxis either. Too expensive, too slow, too vulnerable to bad weather. The only real use case for airships is delivery of bulky cargo (like wind turbine blades) to remote areas that lack transportation infrastructure.

Airships are cool but are a large easy target.

Is 'not actually lighter-than-air' always true, or only when it is carrying 10 tons of cargo?
