We left it about a year ago due to reliability issues. We now use digitalocean apps and working like a charm. Zero downtime with DO.

I've been with Linode since 2004, and this is making me seriously consider other providers.

in my previous gig we used hetzner server to have several VMs and storage of that server failed , resulting that all our production servers went down. luckily we had backups, and restored partially our production, but after that incident we moved everything to DigitalOcean, just to not risk anymore. so our experience was bitter with Hetzner.

I actually moved over to Linode because of similar anomalies. I had a container I was running my personal site from. Paid my bill on time every month. Got distracted with work and hadn't updated it in a while. One day I go to check on it and the site is down. Head to DO to restart it... and it is just gone. Like it never existed. Didn't even bother trying to communicate with them I was so angry. Been really happy with Linode.

No surprise for me. It also happened on DO for me one time. It seemed I've had my machine on a wrong rack/server there. At the end you get what you pay for I would say... you can have luck on your DO server but there is a reason why Rackspace and Amazon still exist nowadays! If you can afford one of the bigger ones go for it.

That's strange. They're the #1 dedicated hosting provider used by YC-funded startups. They have a reputation as the best facilities, best private network, best control panel and best support staff you can get with rented hardware. They've swapped failed hardware for me in under an hour at 3AM their time, recovered data from a corrupt disk for me at no charge, their reliability and network is generally excellent... what are the complaints you hear?

I'm with OVH.I like them and they are cheap but if your server fails then it can take hours to days getting back online.

We've moved off vultr. Too many network down times for no known reason and hard reboots on our servers causing loss of data. A friend has had similar experiences. Their support was also poor.

Thank you for this comment. We run our startup on DO and seeing news like this always make me wonder if I should start looking for plan B, a new server provider. Your service is outstanding and a transition of 30+ large droplets to some other provider would be painful so I really hope you guys are doing well.

I had an incident similar to this with linode, which is why I use and recommend Digital Ocean nowadays. My machine going away because you had hardware issues isn't my problem, and I'll spend my money on a more competent company.
