That is quite literally censorship: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CensorshipYou seem to be confused and think that censorship has to come from government or some other orgs? You’re suppressing political topics (e.g. all of migration policy is racist by definition), which lands squarely in the censorship camp. It’s not any less censorship if your users agree with it.

Censoring people who disagree with you is not the same as no censorship.

Remember when all of the far left folks around here thought it was okay to censor x.com? Once you start allowing censorship of one side, the same tools can get used against you. Fight all censorship, even if it's speech you disagree with.

You're talking about two different issues / results of censorship here, both of which are legitimate and need to be discussed. Don't silence one with the other.

It’s only censorship when it’s against things you sympathize with.

Funny how people are ok censorship until it happens to them or someone they support.

This is an excuse for censorship. Censorship is a big problem on the internet. Including sites like Hacker News. Make a somewhat political statement that is popular, it will be upvoted. Make a somewhat political statement that is very critical of the United States or contradicts a mainstream liberal media myth or bias, you will be flagged (censored). This is the same as what happens in China when you criticise the government.

Sorry, it was an tongue in cheek comment not appropriate for HN. I believe the problem with censorship through the veneer of hate speech should be obvious. Only way to hinder corporate and state censorship being extended is if the factions that supported it come to their senses. They are far greater in numbers than those that thought it through.

even with me saying “being censured”, folks pretend there's some censorship concern herethere's isn't“censorship” is when an advocate of human-rights gets silenced by a powerful entity that wishes to revoke said human rights“being censured” is me getting moderated for insulting the intelligence of right-wingers here, if that goes against the rules
