Surely the much dryer/warmer weather due to climate change has something to do with it, no?

Given that most of the listed countries are hot, a more reasonable take is climate change.

I wonder if this could be somehow tied to global warming. Maybe the Jetstream weakening or ocean currents changing. Or is it just a fluke?

Whilst no single weather event can be linked directly to climate change, this is, surprisingly, consistent with a global increase in temperature. Whilst the rest of the Northern Hemisphere is warmer than it ever has been, Canada and the North Eastern US freezes due to an alteration to the jet stream: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZGsdnYqbjk

Weather patterns the past week have been very all over the place. It looks like we'll be in an El Niño weather pattern this winter/spring which will make it feel a bit warmer. The polar vortex also is spilling out due to the higher temperatures, which will ironically lead to cooler temperatures in Canada/US like the article mentions.I'm sure this was linked to HN because of larger climate change concerns. Average global temperatures are increasing, but short term periods o

Could be global warming, or at least warm winters (whether due to global warming or not).

Climate has something to do with that.

A few days ago, someone posted a blog post here on HN [1] explaining the phenomenon which causes this: https://www.severe-weather.eu/global-weather/polar-vortex-co...[1] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=257

Weather is not climate. Climate change will trigger some places to be colder (at times) while overall hotter (on average). If you want to learn more, look into ocean currents, acidification and how fresh meltwater has an impact on currents / weather patterns. Here is a good Youtube channel for reference: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtZdUYUZr493AUh_EInBYxQ

I live in India and we're either seeing a draught or a flood. And things are getting worse consistentlyRainy season was June to Sept.. now it rains 12months, literally.last year it rained in ALL months. It has never happened before. There never were cyclones in Arabian sea, since 2yrs we had 1 cyclone per year. And they had predicted these cyclones, yes. That's happening due to a warming ocean. And that's because of global warming. There was polar vortex in US for 3 or
