It has that persistent toolbar at the bottom with no way to hide it. I wish I could have those pixels back.

Try removing the button on the top left. The one with the three horizontal bars.
Stock yes. Just hide the toolbar. I don't like that either. Turn off main toolbar and session toolbar.
The white bar isn't as big for me as your screenshot, but I also have one near the bottom of the navigation bar.
