AI can do that to a game you play against humans.
Would AI not be able to crush this game?
The problem is see is the AI is not better than the human, it's just 1000x faster at APM / macro. It could have a "shit" bo and still win because it's so much faster than a human. It's not really interesting tbh.
How does this game teach artificial intelligence? I can't see that.
Probably because an AI that always plays optimally wouldn't be very fun to play against.
I do not understand the point of an AI if you want it to be equal in all ways to a human. Why not just fight a human? The goal is to build an AI that is at least as good as pro players (which would involve building models and technology capable of taking complex decisions etc.). The goal was never to implement something that is strictly equal to a human. You cannot blame the AI for having a better memory and perfect timing, or next thing you know you'll ask them to limit the RAM
Aw that AI ruins all the games for us !! Now we wont know if the opponent has been using it
A fair comparison is simple: make the AI play the game using a standard screen, mouse and keyboard (the game was designed to be played this way after all, and non-standard peripherals are not allowed in tournaments by the way). It suddenly seems WAY more challenging for the machine, doesn't it? You could also invent some contraption that interfaces directly with the human's brain to even out on the other front, but this sounds even more futuristic. The average APM limitation is just
What makes you think an AI can't be gamed in the same ways?
I'm rather suprised there are no player beating ais for starcraft. i dont think it should be very hard as decisions need to be made very quickly in this game and humans are bound to make more than a few mistakes. but perhaps i'm underestimating the problem. it may have something to do with the limitations of the api though.
