This has to do with screen glare. A matte screen might treat you better.

matte display vs. glossy display seems to make a difference for me (at least psychologically). matte feels cooler and is less harsh on my eyes.

Too bad the display is glossy. I tried it for over a year, but I can work much better on a matte screen.

all glossy screen :-( never liked them. for me, coding on non-glossy screens are better.

The IPS matte is lovely. I have a touchscreen I impulsively bought and it can't face a source of light directly, or else it's unreadable.

Yes, the glossy screen means that more light reaching your eyeballs.
