Facebook Feed Complaints
Users vent frustration over Facebook's algorithmic news feed prioritizing ads, suggested content, and viral posts instead of chronological updates from friends, leading many to reduce usage or seek chronological alternatives.

Facebook news feed is a pain nowadays with all the useless stuff my friends are sharing..
I loathe the AI and suggested content. I only want to see the content posted by people I have explicitly followed, I do not want to see what some random group or person posted. The inability to turn this off is the reason I stopped using Facebook. If I want to seek out groups and people I will do so on my own, I do not want a fire hose flooding my personal feed.
Problem is facebook decides what you want to see unless you go to the feed which they make hard. Even then the vast majoritiy of what you see is garbage they share instead of life updates that you want.I wish there was a better way but life updates still a posted there only. Facebook is the only one that has a concept of this is a for my friends only.
I’d be happy to know what my friends are doing, but that doesn’t seem to be a service Facebook offers anymore. When I am stupid enough to go load my Facebook feed, it’s about 2/3 ads, 1/3 “recommended for you” posts that I have no interest in, and very rarely something from someone I follow will show up in between, and then half the time it’s someone sharing a news article or a meme instead of actually talking about themselves. The signal to noise ratio for Facebook is essentially ze
I was recently browsing FB for the first time in months, and didn't see a peep from fact checkers, despite all the garbage-tier content FB is forcing into my feed including things like "see how this inventors new car makes fossil fuels and batteries obsolete". I spent most of my time on the site clicking "hide all from X", where X is some suggested page I never expressed interest in. The "shorts" on the site are always clickbaity boob-featuring things that I ha
The last thing I want to see is what random people I don't know are posting. Maybe there's a stream where I can see that, but not in MY news feed. I want to only see what my friends are doing, and maybe what is going on in a group that I belong to. Nothing else. No AI prompts or responses, no suggested friends, videos, groups, etc. To make Facebook even tangentially useful to me I have to use FBuster or other extensions to remove all of that junk.
Part of the Facebook problem is that they mostly took control of the feed away from users. They now surface the more "engaging" posts at the top and more frequently. This leads to the overemphasis of viral images and videos. If you post a simple personal status message without an image and Facebook's sentiment analysis considers it to be non-engaging many of your friends won't even see it as Facebook will favor marketing spam over your actual personal post. Users also become
My facebook timeline is the worst of all social networks. I unfollowed 90% of my friends that I don't care about, so it has very little data to show me, but instead of showing all of the content of those users, it still filters out most stuff by whatever criteria they use, so I often go days with the same content being shown on the top of my timeline (and missing a lot of posts that I actually wanted to see).Setting the feed to "Most Recent" usually gives better content, but th
I wish someone made a social media site that has no news feed or any feed, like the facebook of old. Only get notifications and updates from actual people who you have friended. I genuinely think this would be popular, it wouldn't drive the engagement that the feeds and algos do but it would be a more wholesome experience the one we all bought into at the dawn of the social network, only for our friends to be swapped out for a constant drip of 'engaging' content.
Sweet. Let users opt out of the algorithm then! Facebook was better when it was just a feed of your friends.
