Doesn't lidar have the same problem then?

tribby Jan 9, 2017 View on HN

from my understanding lidar is an improvement over cameras because you can use them even if there's no light for the cameras, as well as providing 3D data.

Does “instead of LIDAR” mean that LIDAR solves that in some significant way?

Is lidar still necessary if computer vision advances far enough? We drive just fine without radar.

The downside of not having a LIDAR.

Doesn't LIDAR solve these technical problems?

nvahalik Jan 16, 2019 View on HN

I hear LiDARs are good at damaging cameras...

dmead Feb 2, 2022 View on HN

come on elon. just use the lidar.

ihattendorf Dec 28, 2023 View on HN

Any specific reason to avoid Lidar? Cost?

dzhiurgis Dec 21, 2025 View on HN

I thought LIDAR solves for this lol
