Many schools in the US provide their students with laptops and Chromebook is the overwhelming favorite. The student has to return the laptop at the end of the year. For my mom/grandmother/dad... They're all using chromebooks... not for the reduced cost, but because the environment is more secure, and fits their needs.So the answer is maybe.
Chromebooks aren't better - they are just cheap and familiar looking. Google has done nobody a service except themselves.
For these people, Chromebooks would be best, I think... But I wouldn't dare suggest them with Googles track record of decommissioned services and devices.
What about users who own Chromebooks?
I Bought 2 Chrome books.1 for my daughter. Only purpose she can use is Gmail (email and keep in touch with Aunt's and other relatives overseas). Occasionally she uses youtube and her school website.1 for My Dad to read new papers online.Both of them love it and its the only computer they use.
