I will never forget the day I was screamed off by a cab driver near Central Park for doing it. Didn't even know it was a thing, as a foreigner.
It's the only place where I got honked at by a car on the sidewalk while walking on the sidewalk, and when I didn't get out of the way fast enough he proceeded to attempt to nudge me with his car.

I was nearly shot by a gang in Miami for parking in front of the wrong house with a white panel van with tinted windows. Never had such an experience in any other US city. I managed to get away after a five minute high speed chase on city streets. Cops were nowhere in sight at any point and time was of the essence so calling 911 was not an option.
Not really, one day coming back from work somebody got shot on the next car in the bart train i was on :)
Maybe I got that impression when I was walking from my flat to Pittsburgh university on one of the main roads with plenty of shops left and right, a car stopped and a naked black woman was thrown out of the car and landed 10 meters in front of me on the pavement. Maybe I got that impression when at the same corner my San Francisco dorm flat was, somebody got shot and bled out right there.
