how they think the world is != objective reality
It seems we're talking about perception here, so what is the 'reality'?
It's fascinating how different people conceptualize reality.
Maybe it's your understanding of reality that it's flawed.
The subjective nature of reality disagrees with you, sorry.
How do you know reality is not just an illusion?
You don't understand anything about reality. For all you know, you're living in Plato's cave. What you kind of know, is just text you read from a physics book. The things your eyes see, could just as easily be encoded as tokens and fed into an LLM.
There's a common way people from scientific communities (such as HN) look at the world - there's a "real world" out there, and in order to improve our understanding of things we should approximate (discover the rules that govern) this real world and try to minimize our subjective experiences as much as possible. I fully subscribe to this view, the real world has to be same for everyone, right? But there's another way to look at things which is prevalent in other circle
If people didn't imagine their own reality, what then are they to believe? "Real" reality? Which one?
There's no such thing as true reality since even the idea of reality is part of our survival mechanism.
