Maybe not every anonymous account on HN corresponds to a real individual?
Your HN account is not linked to your real identity, unless you want it to be. Many people think that's a big difference.
Why anybody might need to still HN accounts?
What is the mechanism for They ostracizing anonymous accounts on HN?
but... you can post on HN pretty anonymously if you wanted, so that is a bit different
Off-topic question: Why do people use throwaway accounts here on HN? Why is it so important that nobody knows who the real person behind posts is?
Why create a throwaway for this anodyne question? It’s fine to have pseudonymous accounts on HN. But HN is a community: if for some reason you don’t want to tie this to your main account, create another one for such questions, but keep some consistency. HN isn’t intended to be a collection of disconnected, orphaned statements.
Sorry! I need a more pseudonymous HN account.
Why did you post this on a throwaway account? Are you afraid that HN will think less of you if you posted on your real account? Not trying to be critical - these are honest questions here.
I wonder if you'd benefit from starting a new HN account, and try to not reveal anything that would let people connect it to your real identity?BTW, I'm a guy, and I'm trying to be friendly, and I can assure you I'm not looking for a date.
