There's lots of reasons why I stopped wearing a watch (mostly due to comfort) and I have almost no desire to return to wearing one. Even before smartphones replaced watches for most people, I usually didn't wear one or sported an old fashioned pocket watch because it was more comfortable. The burden of pulling my phone out of my pocket is not so great that the tradeoff of using an expensive, clumsy, short battery-life wearable device that does some subset of what my phone already doe
Maybe noone needs a watch neither a smart one, anymore?
You want an Apple Watch imo, I often leave my phone behind now, I’m contactable without distractions.
I love the bells and whistles watches and I'm not an athlete. I love it in case I forget my phone, I still get all the notifications. I can pay with it. I can watch my home security. Something like the pebble wouldn't work for me anymore. Despite being a first day Kickstarter backer. The charging doesn't bother me because for me a watch is mainly for when I'm not home.
Smart watches do quite a lot that my phone can’t. Primarily health/fitness tracking, and being on my wrist. This device is essentially a phone in every way but massively less functional. I can’t see a single thing it does better or more conveniently.
I'm in the same boat. I received a smart watch as a gift and never use it. Pulling out my phone simply isn't enough of a hassle to warrant using the watch and the watch alone doesn't bring any new features to the table. My watch is a piece of jewelry for me and as a piece of jewelry, smart watches just aren't the same.I believe we are seeing the tipping point of technology as fashion. Others have predicted a resurgence of non-digital goods. Perhaps watches and glasses will
The point of the watch is not needing to bring you phone...
What killed the smart watch for me is the watch form factor. I don't want stuff strapped to my body. I had to stop wearing a watch many years ago for a few months and I couldn't do it again since I lost the habit. It just feels unnatural. I understand that it can be laughed at, because I wear glasses. An extremely lightweight notification device inside my glasses would be the right form factor for me.
Watches are superior to phones imo. It's way more convenient to simply look at your wrist than it is to dig your phone out of your pocket.
I just can't see how these are better than smartwatches.
