There's no magic bullet, you have to put some effort to maintain your todo list. Years ago, I naively thought that I could come up with an algorithm that would prioritize tasks for me based on a formula and I'd have to open my app and it would tell me what to do. No such luck.I've been using GTD with great luck. The short version is:- everything that you have/want/need to do goes into the inbox.- inbox gets periodically reviewed. At this point you must ask yours

Why is a todo list a good idea?

I run a Trello board along the lines of Getting Things Done, i.e., everything I have to do goes into this board. It starts with "incoming" list, which can also be filled from email. Every morning I look at what is there in the "incoming" list and these tasks move on to "today", "this week" or "later" lists. Also, tasks from those lists go back into "today" if needed. When I'm done with a task it moves to a "Done" list, wh

Genuinely curious: how do you manage commitments etc. without a todo list?

I'm now writing my MUST list each morning before I get out of bed. At least 2 things (w/ the task broken into sub tasks as needed), less than 5 thingsThe must list has things I need to do to avoid increased stress and hassle down the line. Todoist then has my SHOULD list which would add up to the ideal dayFrom there the day's mostly just a checklist that needs ticking off. Easy mode if I'm feeling a bit naff, ideal list if I'm in a productive mood. It might be that

I have a white board right above my monitor. I write a daily "to do" list there and check off items as they get done. Items that do not get done in one day get moved to the next day. I try not to let the list get too long (I know I need to do 100 things, but if I can only do 3 today then my to do list only contains 3). It keeps me sane and focused. In the past I tried something similar to scrum (have a master list of everything I needed to do). But since I do have a day job and other respons

I have been doing something similar this past year and it has really boosted my productivity. I start the day by writing down things I want/need to do that day. Generally things like 'fix test on failing pr', 'reply email from Dave', 'process feedback on design document'. As the day goes on the list grows, and I rarely finish everything. The next day I start by copying undone items from the previous day. The key for me is to use pen and paper. I had tried vario

i think the author mentions divide and conquer (not by name), breaking things down to the smallest scope.it's harder for me to keep track of all my things to do, for work, home, etc, i've actually created a tool to use for this, there's an iphone app if anyone's interested:https://getsdone.xyz

Todo list or apps won't solve your problem per say. It's about designing a system that would allow you to work more effectively. Some suggestionsReview your list and remove the fluff.Keep your list short if possible. Focus on 2 to 5 things you won't to accomplish each. If that isn't possible you can prioritize using eisenhower matrix.Time box the items in your list
